Resumo
O AzLab#76 objetiva abordar o Azulejo no desenvolvimento de iniciativas cocriativas de espaço público. Observam-se experiências contemporâneas realizadas em Portugal e no Brasil. Por um lado, visa-se destacar o potencial da matéria azulejar para a mobilização das pessoas na realização de atividades colaborativas de (re)invenção de espaço público. Por outro lado, reflete-se sobre o potencial do Azulejo – em termos artísticos, figurativos, estéticos, narrativos, ornamentais, compositivos e de durabilidade, mas também de manuseamento, aplicação, produção, etc. – para geração e/ou incremento cocriativo de valor sociocultural relativamente aos contextos intervencionados. A materialidade proporcionada pela invenção colaborativa de espaço público através do “Azulejo cocriativo” expressa, simultaneamente, a invenção de um bem comum cuja perspetiva de autoria partilhada vem reforçar. Repercute-se ainda no incremento do ambiente urbano local e enquanto expressão que, em potencial, poderá vir a ser valorizada como património cultural urbano.

THE AZULEJO AND THE CO-CREATION OF PUBLIC SPACE IN PORTUGAL AND BRAZIL

Abstract
AzLab#76 will focus on the azulejo’s role in the development of co-creative public space initiatives, by looking at contemporary projects carried out in Portugal and Brazil. On the one hand, we aim to highlight the potential of tile coverings to mobilize different people towards a collaborative (re)invention of public space; on the other, we aim to reflect on the azulejo’s own potential – on its artistic, figurative, aesthetic, narrative, decorative and compositional qualities, as well as its durability, usage, application, production, etc. – for the creation or the co-creative increase of the targeted contexts’ socio-cultural value. The new materiality afforded by the collaborative invention of public space, through the application of “co-creative azulejos”, reflects at the same time the invention of a common good and emphasizes its shared authorship. Moreover, it leads to the enrichment of the local urban environment and to the creation of works that may come to be regarded as part of the city’s cultural heritage.
