Andreas Stöcklein é um dos mais importantes artistas contemporâneos a trabalhar o azulejo em Portugal. O seu primeiro contacto com a cerâmica de revestimento remonta à década de 1980, quando integrou o azulejo na sua emblemática instalação “Membrana – Da transparência do Solo” (1987), realizada na praia de Odeceixe. Desde então tem construído uma vasta obra, quase sempre em colaboração com a Galeria Ratton.
Neste AzLab#89 o protagonista é Andreas Stöcklein, mas convidámos também a Ana Maria Viegas e o Tiago Montepegado, da Galeria Ratton, para se juntarem à conversa, sobre vários temas, entre os quais a obra do artista e as comemorações dos seus 40 anos de carreira em Portugal, marcada pela inauguração de uma exposição na Galeria Ratton – “O Outro Lugar. Conversas Interiores”, e de outra, antológica, no Museu Nacional do Azulejo, que se intitula “Sobre a Linha do Horizonte. Andreas Stöcklein na Colecção Ratton”.
Já depois da gravação deste podcast foi anunciada a atribuição do Prémio SOS Azulejo “Obra de vida” 2022 a Andreas Stöcklein. Parabéns!!!

Andreas Stöcklein is one of the most important artists currently working with azulejos in Portugal. His first contact with ceramic tile coverings dates back to the 1980s, when he used azulejos in the iconic art installation “Membrane – On the Transparency of the Soil”, in the beach of Odeceixe. Since then he has created a vast body of work, almost always in collaboration with Ratton Gallery.
The protagonist of AzLab#89 is Andreas Stöcklein, but we have also invited Ana Maria Viegas and Tiago Montepegado, from Ratton Gallery, to join a conversation on various subjects – including the artist’s work and the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of his career in Portugal, marked by the inauguration of an exhibition at Ratton Gallery, entitled “The Other Place. Inner Conversations”, and a second, anthological exhibition at the National Azulejo Museum, entitled “On the Horizon. Andreas Stöcklein in the Ratton Collection”.
After this podcast was recorded we learned that the SOS Azulejo “Life Work” Prize 2022 was awarded to Andreas Stöcklein. Congratulations!!!
